For the love of the epistolary — a pen pal match-maker
There’s a way we express ourselves via handwritten letters that is simply different than in text message, email, or the group chat. Letter writing is one of the most special and longstanding creative practices, and can lead to collaborations and artistic partnerships unlike any other.
Some of the friendships at the core of Artists&& were formed through letter-writing — and so, we figured it’d be fun to match interested folks with their next pen pals.
Please note pen pal applicants must be at least 18 years old, as we are unable to match minors with potential pen pals. The internet is vast & can be scary — be sure to exercise caution and only share what you feel comfortable sharing with your match.
How it works:
1. Make an optional donation to Artists&& below. All donations will go toward scholarship funds for our upcoming Writing&& retreat. Please note these are not tax-deductible, though they are deeply appreciated!
2. Fill out the form below. Only tell us as much as you want to!
3. From there, we will match pen pals and email you and your pen pal making an introduction.
4. You take it from there! It’s up to you to decide if you want to share your mailing address based on the vibes, and to agree on the cadence of letters, and more.
It’s our hope this will spur some cool collaborations with creatives in different provinces, states, countries. Later this year, we’ll do a call for submissions for a zine on the epistolary and reach out to all our pen pals for submissions.
